Well, TEDx is a week behind us and we honestly don't know what to do with ourselves. We are SO PROUD of our speakers and our school. Seriously proud. Goosebumps and smiles and humble brags abound.
The TEDxBattle love is real and we want to keep it going. Feel free to continue the conversation on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter by using #TEDxBattle. Cheers to future TEDx conferences at the home of the Spartans!
- We checked in at 189 unique streams (many of which were streaming to large audiences). Our low point during fourth block was 96 unique streams.
- Battle's watch parties included 200 filled seats in the Media Center each block, plus multiple classroom streams and 100 students in the live audience each block.
- We are aware of watch parties in at least eight other CPS buildings including (but not limited to): Hickman High, Rock Bridge High, Douglass High, Battle Elementary, Rock Bridge Elementary, Oakland Middle, Lange Middle and the Aslin building.
- We also know of three other school districts who tuned in.
- Our speakers talked for four full blocks and a total of 375 minutes.
- Speakers included: 22 Battle High students, one CPS principal, one CPD School Resource Officer, one MU student teaching intern, our CPS superintendent and eight other prominent community members.
- Our school family came through strong, ya'll. We can't even begin to thank or acknowledge everyone who volunteered or pitched in, but here are a few shout-outs:
- Our practical arts teachers made enough gorgeous food to feed our speakers and guests. They even created custom Spartan head water bottle labels and Spartan themed cookies.
- Dana Harris donated flowers to our table decorations.
- Our army of student and faculty volunteers was indispensable.
- Our BHS administration, tech services, and the fine arts department were all crucial in the production of this incredible event.
- Caleb White aided with theater tech.
- Anne Hickman, Matt Leuchtmann and Kaiya Kelley created images/logos for the event.
- Matt Leuchtmann filmed exit interviews for our speakers.
- Todd Hildal professionally filmed our whole day and is currently producing a polished finished product for us.
- CPS Tech Services, including our very own Ryan Pingrey and Demetrius Davis made our streaming (with MULTIPLE CAMERA ANGLES!) possible.
- And our administration, both district and building, proudly supported our event.
